Welcome!

The EPSRC Centre for Doctoral Training in Quantum Technology Engineering offers exciting PhD research on a variety of Quantum Technology projects while bringing students together in a programme of practical training designed for careers in Quantum Technology science, engineering and industry.

Our Quantum Technology research links our Schools of Physics & Astronomy, Chemistry, Electronics & Computer Science and Engineering, and our Optoelectronics Research Centre, and spans from fundamental principles to applications, from processes to devices, and from components to systems. It is supported by our state-of-the-art nanofabrication cleanrooms and the facilities of our Institute of Sound & Vibration Research and National Oceanography Centre Southampton.

The Centre’s research projects and training are supported by over 50 companies across the quantum technology sector, many of which sponsor collaborative projects. Each PhD student spends a 12 week placement with one of our industry partners; in addition, each student is funded and encouraged to arrange an extended study visit of their own devising.
