| The strong absorption of terahertz waves by water makes terahertz spectroscopy of aqueous solutions extremely challenging. As an alternative to the widely used time-domain technique, we present a frequency-domain approach based on electronic heterodyne techniques combined with a quasi-optical setup to face this challenge. A basic introduction about terahertz electronics will be followed by our terahertz spectroscopy setup and preliminary measurement results of proteins in aqueous solutions. |
